Outward Round Romania owns the Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of Youth since 2020. We created an action plan for the period 2021-2027 for the following target groups: disadvantaged and mainstream young persons, youth workers and youth NGOs.

During the 7 years we are going to:

  • create a strong local and international network of youth NGOs in order to share best practices and working methods.
  • develop the soft and hard skills of the youth workers, enlarge their toolkits and theoretical/practical knowledge about working with groups using non-formal methods
  • develop the key competences, raise the awareness of the young persons about environmental sustainability and contribute to their inclusion

During the fourth year we implemented the following Mobilities in order to contribute to the set objectives:

  1. WOOP it up!: 19-30.08.2024.

About the project:

This Youth Exchange program was designed for women from different backgrounds. Through facing challenging situations and sharing experiences, participants gained self-confidence and realized that, as women, they are capable of far more than they had imagined.

Our main goal was to bring together and empower women in their roles through a variety of experiences, physical and mental challenges, using different tools, theories, and models.

Specific objectives of the project were:

  • To learn in nature, about nature, about themselves, and about the strength of a community
  • To help them formulate their vision about their future plans
  • To cooperate and find solutions through problem-solving activities
  • To develop a sense of community
  • To overcome their limits through mental and physical challenges, step out of their comfort zones
  • To connect with themselves, each other, and nature
  • To create the feeling of solidarity between women

The elements of the program:

Get to know each other activities, team building, three-night long expedition, leader of the day, sleeping and cooking outdoors, goal setting, problem-solving activities, mindfulness practices, inner exploration, nature-based activities, debriefing, tools and theories, expressing gratitude and celebrating success, closing activities

Results of the projects:

This project empowered women by fostering resilience, self-discovery, and a deeper connection with nature. Participants have developed critical thinking in decision-making, leadership, and entrepreneurship, while exploring the strength of womanhood and breaking stereotypes, leading to personal growth.

Feedback from the participants:

“The program did meet my expectations, I resonated a lot with a lot of women, I could bond a lot. I felt heard, seen and understood. I was able to pass through challenges together with these women. I loved the project, its structure grounded us and brought us close to our inner self.”

“I found these amazing people who welcomed me and made me feel enough as I am and accepted who I am, and we were challenged through social interactions and having to surpass challenges as a group in ways I never expected but really needed.”

“The most significant learning I will carry in my ‘invisible backpack’ is the power of collaboration and understanding in a multicultural environment. This project taught me that despite our differences in culture, language, and perspectives, we can come together to address universal challenges, such as gender equality, and find innovative solutions.”

“The project surpassed my expectations. I hadn’t realized how difficult the conditions at the expedition would be. It made me stronger and provided me with many resources to face challenges in social and mountain situations. I gained many leadership skills.”
