WHITE PATHFINDER Personal development training course
Outward Round Romania owns the Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of Youth since 2020. We created an action plan for the period 2021-2027 for the following target groups: disadvantaged and mainstream young persons, youth workers and youth NGOs.
During the 7 years we are going to:
- create a strong local and international network of youth NGOs in order to share best practices and working methods.
- develop the soft and hard skills of the youth workers, enlarge their toolkits and theoretical/practical knowledge about working with groups using non-formal methods
- develop the key competences, raise the awareness of the young persons about environmental sustainability and contribute to their inclusion

About the project:
The White Pathfinder is an 8-day intensive & immersive outdoor personal development training course for young adults, with a focus on leadership.
- intensive, because we believe in real challenges and real experiences. All the elements of the training course will demand a high level of involvement and dedication from the participants.
- immersive because the participants’ experience is real, the physical-psychological challenges are there to stimulate growth and it is happening with the consent & high involvement of the participants.
Goals:
The program has the potential to create a long lasting nurturing impact on the participants. Through its design beside some practical skills the participants will gain insight on their behavioral profile, learn how to manage their state and how they function as a leader but also as a team player.
- SUSTAINABLE RESILIENCE-SYSTEM: We all work on our resilience, yet this built up system often is very demanding, and while we are under stress it crumbles to pieces. In this program the participants learn to create their own resilience system, adapted to their specific needs and conditions.
- LEADING & FOLLOWING: We lead, we follow, and although this happens often and naturally, we rarely realize what are our patterns, what is sustainable for us and what needs adjustment. During the program the participants can face their patterns.
- RECONNECTION & REDEFINITION:It is important to check in with ourselves from time to time, in order to identify change, adapt ourselves to the current circumstances and to our network. In the program the participants will have the chance to do this, on various levels.
- APPRECIATION TOWARDS NATURE: We are part of nature and nature is part of us. We have to experience the challenges that nature offers to us as a present, in order to realize where we are in life, to celebrate our successes and to know in which direction we want to take our next step as a leader, as a team member, as an adult. In the frame of this training the participants will have the chance to go through this experience as well.
Results:
- participants were highly satisfied, most of them constantly overcame their limits, not just once, breakthroughs happened.
- deeper knowledge about the physical and emotional safety of participants during outdoor programs
- enlarged professional networking
The elements of the program: various team-building & problem-solving activities, ropes course elements (Belaying school, Jacob’s Ladder, Parallel beams), low ropes course elements, 3 days expedition (hiking, carrying equipment, cooking, maintaining the winter hut, managing resources), debriefing sessions of various kind, behavior-reflecting processes.
