SOLUTION FOCUS IN YOUTH WORK Professional development training course
Outward Round Romania owns the Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of Youth since 2020. We created an action plan for the period 2021-2027 for the following target groups: disadvantaged and mainstream young persons, youth workers and youth NGOs.
During the 7 years we are going to:
- create a strong local and international network of youth NGOs in order to share best practices and working methods.
- develop the soft and hard skills of the youth workers, enlarge their toolkits and theoretical/practical knowledge about working with groups using non-formal methods
- develop the key competences, raise the awareness of the young persons about environmental sustainability and contribute to their inclusion
During the third year we implemented the following Mobilities in order to contribute to the set objectives:

- Adventure and Learning Conference: 06-11.12.2023
- Reset: 26.01-06.02.2023
- Cooperation Well: 21-30.03.2024
All the Mobilities are co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union
Period: 21-27 of November 2023 (7 days)
Location: Sovata -Outward Bound Romania Youth Center and Gurghiului Mountains.
Participants: 28 persons.
Participating countries: Greece, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, France, Romania.

About the project:
The Solution Focus in Youth Work is a 7 day long professional development training course for youth and social workers, mentors, teachers and volunteers with experience in youth work.
The training course focuses on self-development, growth and responsibility. It is goal-directed and focuses on building solutions. The Solution Focus it`s a positive method of dealing with organizations, teams and people. The Solutions Focus means avoiding the pointless search for what causes problems while providing a direct route that leads to a solution.
Goals:
- to gain new theoretical and practical knowledge about the solution focused problem solving,
- how to use this knowledge inside an organization
- how to teach this knowledge for youth groups.
The elements of the program:
There were a multitude of activities incorporated: problem-solving, three day mountain expedition project, challenging activities (ropes course, hiking), individual reflection,group reflection. They worked on the following topics: team building, communication, skill development, cultural awareness, resilience building, inclusion.
Results:
Participants gained a better understanding of what “solution focus” means and how they can effectively use this method in their professional and personal lives.
They developed group competencies, learned about themselves and others during expedition and other team building and ropes course activities, and had some cultural experiences.
