Authentic Man

Outward Round Romania owns the Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of Youth since 2020. We created an action plan for the period 2021-2027 for the following target groups: disadvantaged and mainstream young persons, youth workers and youth NGOs.

During the 7 years we are going to:

  • create a strong local and international network of youth NGOs in order to share best practices and working methods.
  • develop the soft and hard skills of the youth workers, enlarge their toolkits and theoretical/practical knowledge about working with groups using non-formal methods
  • develop the key competences, raise the awareness of the young persons about environmental sustainability and contribute to their inclusion

During the fifth year we implemented the following Mobilities in order to contribute to the set objectives

1. Walking with purpose: 14-25.07.2025

2. Into the Wild: 12-25.08.2025

3. Flavors of the forest: 22-30.09.2025

4. Keys for communication and cooperation: 06-17.1.2025

Goals and objectives:

Authentic Man is a 10-day intensive and immersive personal development training course for young men, designed to explore what it truly means to be a man in the 21st century. The program combines outdoor experiential learning, psychological challenges, and individual reflection to support personal growth, self-awareness, and conscious masculinity.

The elements of the program: get to know each otherteam-building activities and dynamic decision-making processes; 4 days overnight expedition;  nature-based self-reflection and nature connection practices; outdoor cooking; high ropes course activities; opportunities to face individual challenges and stretch the comfort zone, self-image and self-appreciation; guided discussions to explore what it truly means to be a man today—acknowledging responsibilities, embracing strengths, and recognizing opportunities for meaningful impact; reflection on personal values and leadership

Results of the projects:

By the end of the program, participants developed a deeper understanding of themselves as men, increased their self-awareness and confidence, and built emotional resilience. They improved their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, gained clarity on their values and life direction, and experienced a strong sense of connection and belonging. Participants also challenged limiting beliefs, embraced a more authentic way of living, and felt empowered to apply their learning in their daily lives and communities.

Feedback from the participants:

“I was expecting bushcraft, survival and hiking activities and was surprised with the amount of mentoring and psychoanalysis”

“I wanted to challenge myself physically and through that also challenge myself with self-limiting beliefs about myself that I have. The course met and even exceeded my expectations.”

“Definitely I gained a lot of knowledge and thought models to work with. This training was worth it.”

“Program met my expectations 10/10. My expectations were to unlock and discover new capabilities and limits. To be braver to live life, so my inner child would be proud of having father like him.”
