Lifelong Learning Projects

Description: training for youth workers working with people with disabilities was a three stage project. The first goal was to transfer knowledge about experiential learning methodology, theory, methods and instruments of outdoor education to trainers, youth workers, who are working with persons with physical or mental disabilities. Because of their disabilities, these people are often socially excluded. Through our course, we intended to train and to specialize a number of 26 trainers who will be able to deal with the specific problems of this target group.

Due their participation on the training the participants will be able to organize outdoor programs for physically or mentally disabled persons and they will help them to become self-confident and to involve themselves in the society as active citizens with equal rights.  We considered this topics are very important because in our society are many disabled people who are fighting with low self confidence, they are often excluded or overprotected, they can not use their own competences. With this project we wanted to help them truth developing the youth workers, trainers and social workers knowledge to be able to organize outdoor programs for disabled persons.

This experiential education method becomed innovative in this case by adapting to disabled target group. Getting out people from their comfort zone in a safe frame gives a large surface to develop personalities.

Each activity in the project was based on a non-formal education methodology – experiential education through outdoor activities.
